Hi everyone. Many thanks for the good wishes regarding my fathers health. Thankfully, he’s not had to return to hospital for a couple of weeks now, and his various conditions seem to have stabilised. The need for another 400 mile round trip to be on hand to help out, has retreated, and I can now turn my mind and body back to matters closer to home.
The Print Edition of issue 2 is at the printers this week, and 100 freshly minted copies are due to test the (presently quite fragile) strength of my back muscles by being delivered on Monday.
I’m sorry to have been out of touch, but I haven’t rested on my laurels. I’ve re-edited the entire zine, hopefully getting rid of many of the errors that I’d somehow missed, and tightened up the page count to a slightly less excessive 188 pages.
I did toy with various options to reduce the ultimate price; A5 colour, A5 Black and White interior, A4 Black and White interior... but was persuaded by various people that it should stay A4 and full colour. With, I’m afraid, all the expense that brings.
Tony was very kind in offering once again to handle the printing duties, and tempting as that was, I wanted to take that responsibility on myself, so that if there are any problems, I can sort them out directly. I believe that I’m using the same printer as Tony does for Comic Scene, so I’m hoping the finished product will look good.
This is being paid for up front from our household budget, and as long as it breaks even, it will allow future issues to be printed.
Cost per issue will be £16.50. This includes Post and Packaging. The price will be the same if bought from me in person at a Mart or Convention, to help offset travel / table costs and such like.
Remote Payment will only be accepted by Cheque or Postal Order, made payable to “David Price”, and sent to my home address. This is proper ‘old school’ I know, but those of you who I’ve had financial dealings with in the past will be aware that I neither trust or do the whole PayPal thing. Send me a letter, with another bit of paper inside it showing how much money you’re giving me… much safer, as we’ll both be able to check when the money goes into my account.
Please send nothing yet. I’ll post up some pictures on Monday so you can see what you’re getting. Then if you’re interested in buying a copy, private message me and I’ll give you my home address. Ongoing, this means that I can be sure that I have copies left to sell, rather than just accepting orders that I might not be able to fill if they've all been sold.
By the way; we’re quite low on contributions for the next issue, so I’m setting a new deadline of May 1st.
Looking for tributes to Stan Lee, Ron Smith, Tim Bateman, and others, articles relating to the Apa scene in the U.K. and the U.S., articles and artwork relating to Vampirella in this her 50th year… as always most grateful to anyone who wants to join in.
All best wishes,
